On February 4, dense fog and severe cold weather have affected Dhaka, its surrounding areas, and the northern regions of Bangladesh, creating panic and hardship among residents. Since early morning, thick fog has reduced visibility, disrupting normal life and transportation across many areas.According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures in several parts of the country have dropped below seasonal averages. The northern districts, including Rangpur, Kurigram, Nilphamari, and Panchagarh, are experiencing the harshest conditions, with icy winds making the cold even more unbearable. In Dhaka, office-goers faced major difficulties as low visibility slowed traffic on key roads, causing congestion in some places. Ferry services on rivers were also disrupted due to the fog.Hospitals have reported an increase in patients, especially children and the elderly, suffering from cold-related illnesses. Doctors have advised people to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities and wear warm clothing to stay protected. The weather office said the cold wave and fog may continue for the next one to two days and urged the public to remain cautious and take necessary precautions.
