Aminul Islam Amin, president of Ward No. 23 of the Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP, has been expelled from all party positions following allegations of extortion, land grabbing and other unethical activities at Azimpur Graveyard in the capital.

According to the allegations, money was allegedly being collected unlawfully in connection with various activities related to burials and old graves at Azimpur Graveyard. The issue reportedly created growing dissatisfaction among local residents and eventually came to the attention of law enforcement authorities.

Later, Aminul Islam Amin was detained during an operation by law enforcement authorities. A case was subsequently filed against him in connection with the incident. Following the investigation and information related to the case, the BNP decided to take organizational action against him.

As part of the party’s decision, Aminul Islam Amin was relieved of all positions and responsibilities within the BNP. Party members were also instructed not to maintain organizational communication with him.

Azimpur Graveyard is one of the capital’s important and sensitive public places. Allegations of extortion, unauthorized control or other unethical activities there have sparked considerable anger and concern among local residents and members of the wider community.

However, the final truth of the allegations against Aminul Islam Amin will be determined through the legal process. Until the investigation and judicial proceedings are completed, the allegations should be treated as allegations rather than established facts.

The expulsion of a political leader following such allegations has sparked renewed discussion in political circles. At the same time, local residents have called for effective measures to prevent extortion, illegal occupation and other unlawful activities at graveyards and other important public places.
